The elementary years bring exciting new challenges and opportunities! It’s the ideal time to nurture social-emotional competence and develop foundational learning skills.

Our elementary counselors provide social emotional learning lessons to ALL students Pre-k through 4th grade through the Second Step program.

Second Step is a research-based program that has been the cornerstone for many SEL programs and initiatives. Research has shown when students are better equipped to manage their own emotions, form healthy relationships, make good decisions, and cope with everyday social and academic challenges, they are better equipped to learn.
The Second Step program is the heart of our social emotional learning program. It unites all Chittenango students UPK-5th Grade with a common language and tools that everyone can use. Second Step lessons are provided to students at Bolivar Road Elementary, Bridgeport Elementary, and Chittenango Middle School.
